Meetings of Workplace Relations Ministers are convened to discuss and advance important workplace relations matters of national significance in Australia. The Commonwealth Minister responsible for Workplace Relations chairs the meetings, with ministers from each state and territory represented.

These meetings support the Inter-Governmental Agreement for a National Workplace Relations System for the Private Sector 2009 (WR-IGA). The WR-IGA sets out governance arrangements for the National Workplace Relations System and requires the Commonwealth to consult with the referring states and the territories on proposed amendments to the Fair Work legislation. All states and territories have signed the IGA, except Western Australia, which has not referred its workplace relations powers to the Commonwealth. As a matter of custom, Western Australia is consulted at the same time as other states and territories.
