We’re designing a new voluntary pre-employment service for parents with young children. To inform its design, we opened a consultation in July 2023. It will close on 15 September 2023.

The consultation

The consultation is an opportunity for parents, experts, providers, peak bodies and others to have their say and help shape the new service. This way we can make sure the new service meets parents’ needs and helps them achieve their education and employment goals when they’re ready.

Who we’ve talked with so far

So far, we’ve talked with and heard from parents from every state and territory, and from a wide range of locations, backgrounds, cultures and personal circumstances. We:

  • talked with more than 250 parents through workshops and roundtables
  • heard from more than 2000 ParentsNext participants who responded to our survey.

We’ve also met and talked with community organisations, advocacy groups, experts, providers, employers and government agencies. These conversations continue.

Through our consultations so far, we’ve heard a range of views and ideas. We will shortly publish a summary on what we have heard from parents. You’ll have an opportunity to comment on this report and let us know if there’s anything we missed.

Last chance to make a submission
