The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund will cease on 30 June 2025 and will be consolidated into a single grants based fund.

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

Pathways to Construction

Participants completed a 3 week construction training program including job readiness. They were supported into placement at the Victorian Tunnelling Centre training facility to prepare for entry-level roles in the construction industry for major projects.

Pathways to Digital Health – Supporting Telehealth Delivery

The activity aimed to provide participants with the skills required to administer, coordinate, monitor and support the provision of telehealth services delivered by health professionals. The activity was designed to meet employer skill requirements for the growing demand for telehealth services in response to local community care needs and included the delivery of accredited units tailored to employer needs. Participants were provided with mentoring support and career guidance, including facilitated connections to job opportunities.

The activity included training focused on entry level digital skills, mentoring and work experience for high scoring participants, targeting Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) women. Participants worked on simulated projects involving the design and launching of a digital campaign. The supplier aimed to employ 5 participants from the work experience cohort and match 10 with employers from the supplier’s network. For participants not progressing to the work experience stage, access to alternative supports were offered.

This activity involved recruiting, preparing, and supporting participants into employment within the warehousing and construction sectors. This activity included the delivery of micro-credential training aligned to job role requirements, as well as the facilitation of job placements.

Road to Employment - Job Ready Driver Program

This activity supported women to gain a heavy vehicle and warehouse related licence, driving skills, and industry knowledge for employment in the transport and logistics sector. Upon completion, participants gained licences in Heavy and Medium rigid vehicles and forklift licences leading to employment with multiple employers.

SEMMA Welding Skills Training Project

This activity included the delivery of a 150-hour, industry-led, 4-week targeted welding short-course training program to participants, and aimed to address a skills shortage through delivery of tailored and targeted training aligned to local employer skill requirements as well as industry needs. The activity was targeted to the youth, culturally and linguistically diverse and female cohorts, as well as individuals who were impacted by COVID-19 in their previous employment and facilitated participant job placements.

The activity involved the delivery of pre-employment job readiness training and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Operator Skills short course training. The training aimed to address a skill shortage for CNC operators in the region and aligned with the requirements of employers in the advanced and precision manufacturing sector. The activity targeted youth and other disadvantaged participants as well as those whose previous employment was impacted by COVID-19.
