This project was developed in consultation with the organisation's management to enhance the language, literacy and digital literacy skills of three subgroups of humanitarian support workers; bilingual guides, case managers and orientation trainers. These workers were identified as at risk of not providing the best possible settlement outcomes for clients and stakeholders due to reading, writing, oral communication and digital skill deficits.

This project developed the language, literacy, digital and employability skills of 10 staff members from the Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, including General Service Staff, Security Staff and Customer Service Representatives, who had not developed their English sufficiently since initial settlement in Australia. Anglicare Townsville identified a gap in the quality of care notes provided by support & home care workers which was exacerbated by the limited digital technology skills of this cohort of staff who were required to use Samsung mobile phones and laptops to access client notes, care plans, individual rosters, submit time sheets and report on daily observations.
