The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund will cease on 30 June 2025 and will be consolidated into a single grants based fund.

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

This activity provided tools and strategies to build resilience in young participants focusing on key measures of resilience, self-esteem, and hope. Pre- and post-program wellbeing assessments revealed positive changes, with participants demonstrating improvements in self-confidence and hope.

Youth Employment Pathways Program (YEPP)

This activity supported young people through pre-employment training, mentoring, and job referrals into local industries including hospitality, construction, parks and gardens, traffic management and aviation. Participants formed meaningful friendships and expanded their social networks with a follow-up survey finding 80% felt a significant increase in confidence and overall wellbeing. Following completion, several participants gained employment and others pursued further studies.

Introduction to Welding Training Program

The activity will provide participants an opportunity to develop fundamental welding skills, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to enable entry level employment in welding and fabrication. The skills learnt are transferable across the automotive, mining, fabrication, and agriculture industries. Participants will complete training over 2 days, 8 hours per day and will be delivered in Northam and Katanning.

The Front of House Essentials Program

The activity is aimed at addressing a range of topics and training to support participants to build an improve understanding of the Hospitality industry. Participants will go through hands-on, practical training and observational assessments, and have access to employment opportunities in the Hospitality industry upon completion of the program.

Warehouse Ready Employment Program

A pre-employment program co-designed to include industry-led skills, employability and job readiness training in warehousing with direct employment pathways to fill in-demand vacancies across warehouse and distribution centres.

Yalagan Work Ready Program

The activity involves participants building work-ready skills through a customised mix of soft skill and accredited training units, relevant to the construction and mining industry. The program will be delivered in proposed nominated locations (Merredin, Northam, Katanning, Albany) utilising the Yalagan Mobile Training trailer, accredited trainers, and mentors, to groups of 10 to 15 participants.
