Applications for the Local Jobs, Local People Grant are now open and will close on 24 September 2025.

The Local Jobs, Local People Grant opportunity will help address local employment needs by funding local activities that help people get into employment, access training, and create pathways directly leading to employment. Activities can support anyone who is unemployed or underemployed and needs help connecting with work.

The objectives of the Local Jobs, Local People Grant is to:

  • deliver activities that address priorities identified in Employment Regions' Local Jobs Plans
  • lead to ongoing, secure employment or that build pathways to employment for community members who experience barriers to employment and/or
  • support opportunities for local employment in sectors critical to Australia's growth.

The Department is inviting businesses to apply for this grant opportunity. A total of $10 million (GST exclusive) is available in funding over two years to 30 June 2027.

The grant round will be conducted through an open competitive process. The Department would like to receive applications that demonstrate partnerships with small and medium sized businesses that have current or emerging employment opportunities to help bridge the gap between local people looking to participate in the labour market, and employers' workforce needs.
