Skills Match is a tool that helps individuals to identify their skills gained in past jobs and presents ideas for new jobs into which they may be able to transfer these skills.

As a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Australian Government is supporting people to identify and redirect their skills towards a new career pathway.

The Australian labour market is rapidly changing. While many businesses have been affected and are reducing their workforce, there are some areas of the economy that have demand for workers.

How can Skills Match help you?

If you have lost your job due to COVID-19, it is important to understand the skills you have gained in past jobs and how this experience equips you to work in a range of different jobs you may not have previously considered, but might be in demand.

In just a few clicks, you can discover the key skills you have developed in your career, get ideas for new careers, and learn what skills or training you may need to transition into your next job.

Your skills

Skills Match shows you the skills that you may have developed, like communicating with customers and co-workers, managing information and ideas, working with tools and technology, and specific on-the-job knowledge and know-how.

You can use this information about your current skills to prepare your résumé. Skills Match also helps give you the confidence you need to discuss your skillset with potential employers.

Ideas for new careers

Skills Match shows you personalised career matches based on your work history. For each job idea, you can see key insights like average weekly earnings, as well as the main skills, whether a qualification is preferred or if there are any skills gaps that you might need to fill.

You can also tailor your results by training pathway, industry, job type, preferred work style or physical demand to find a path that suits your circumstances.
