Job description

The employer is looking for people who:

  • have good verbal and written communication
  • understand human rights and person-centred care, i.e. can treat people from diverse backgrounds and differing abilities with respect and dignity
  • are passionate about supporting people with disability and/or aged care clients professionally
  • can work individually and in a team by following employer policies and procedures
  • are flexible and able to undertake all tasks listed in the core duties of the specific role they are matched to
  • are available and able to accept reasonable overtime requests in emergency situations, to meet client care needs
  • are committed to ongoing learning.

Prerequisites required:

  • Satisfactory national police check.
  • Satisfactory NDIS Worker screening check.
  • Current driver’s licence (minimum of red or green P-plate) and owning a car, with registration status on VicRoads and comprehensive car insurance (for Healio Care roles).
  • 3 x COVID-19 vaccinations and 1 x flu vaccination (and provide evidence of this on request).

Project activities

  • Life and workplace skills training tailored to the roles
  • Accredited training in first aid and CPR, safe work practices for direct client care, and individualised support
  • Site tours and job shadowing shifts at employer sites
  • Mentoring to support your success during the project and at employment commencement

Duties

Personal care worker

  • Personal care – bathing, dressing, toilet assistance, grooming
  • Meal support – preparation and feeding assistance
  • Mobility help – safe transfers, walking, use of aids
  • Emotional support – companionship and social engagement
  • Health monitoring – observing changes and reporting concerns
  • Environment upkeep – light cleaning and maintaining hygiene
  • Medication assistance – under nurse supervision

Hospitality/kitchen assistant

  • Serving morning/afternoon teas and meals and kitchen clean‑up
  • Ensuring food safety (temperature control, cross‑contamination prevention, equipment cleaning)
  • Keep up to date with and meet the needs of client dietary requirements
  • Work closely with kitchen operations and personal care teams
  • Communicate respectfully with clients, their families and work colleagues
  • Ability to stand for extended periods or long shifts
  • Ability to use manual handling equipment (tray stackers they use to transport meals)
