The Local Recovery Fund is available in 51 Employment Regions (regions).

The Local Recovery Fund will cease on 30 June 2025 and will be consolidated into a single grants based fund.

The Local Recovery Fund supports locally driven activities that:

  • meet priorities identified in the region’s Local Jobs Plan
  • are tailored to the opportunities and needs identified in the region
  • address employment and training priorities; and
  • skill individuals to meet local employer demand.

Local Recovery Fund activities are usually sought via a Request for Proposal procurement process. If you are interested in developing a Local Recovery Fund proposal, contact your local Employment Facilitator.

Hospitality Essentials 5 Day Intensive Program

Linking to Careers – Healthcare & Social Assistance

The Linking to Healthcare and Social Assistance activity will support Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) and refugee participants by delivering a workshop series focussing on key industry terminology, Australian workplace practices, strategies to navigate recruitment and post placement support. The organisation has collaborated with local employers to ascertain the training needs required to fill vacancies in the Healthcare and Social Assistance industry. The activity ensures that specific employer needs are met through tailor made workshops.

Pathways to Building and Construction

The activity provides intensive support for disadvantaged youth from the Geelong region to move from a ‘survival mode’ mentality into entry level roles and apprenticeships in the construction industry. Participants will be supported through mentors, industry tasters, accredited training, and job application help.

This activity will provide pre-employment training with entry pathways into hospitality and transferable skills to retail, tourism and food manufacturing industries. Participants will reskill and upskill into roles through enhancing their life skills and work readiness by undertaking training, work placements, mentoring and job placement support.

Youth Employment Pathways Program (YEPP)

This activity will support young people aged 15 – 24 years by delivering pre-employment and training, providing mentoring support, and undertake industry immersion components including apprenticeship/traineeship and vocational training options and referrals to jobs for key industries including hospitality, construction, parks and gardens, traffic management and aviation.

The activity involved foundation skills training, coaching, skills development workshops and industry immersion opportunities and targeted 25 culturally and linguistically diverse youth (15 to 24 years). Participants were partnered with a corporate mentor to build self-confidence and assist developing an understanding of workplace culture, career pathways and barriers to employment.

Banksia Gardens Job Connect Program

Specialist job support coaches assisted participants to develop short-term and intermediate steps towards the achievement of employment outcomes.
