Roles
- 10-12 positions available as a food and beverage attendant, kitchen hand or cleaner working at either Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Wagga or Blamey Barracks Kapooka
- Permanent part-time (minimum 15 hours per week)

Job description
Tasks involved
Food and beverage attendant:
- Deliver a high-quality food and beverage service to customers in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Provide friendly, responsive service to customers.
- Follow routine instructions and communicate effectively.
- Replenish supplies and respond to customer requests.
- Handle complaints appropriately or escalate to a manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of service areas.
Kitchen hand:
- Support the kitchen team in preparing and presenting food while maintaining hygiene and safety standards.
- Assist with food preparation, including vegetables and salads.
- Portion and plate meals for service.
- Follow food safety plans and site procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness in food preparation areas.
- Communicate effectively and follow instructions.
Cleaner:
- Maintain a clean and hygienic environment across various surfaces and facilities using appropriate materials and equipment.
- Clean internal and external surfaces, including walls, windows, and fixtures.
- Remove waste and apply odour control.
- Perform basic stain removal and disinfect hard surfaces.
- Follow safety procedures and use cleaning equipment correctly.
General duties for all roles:
- Apply basic communication skills: communicate effectively in the workplace, follow routine instructions, receive and relay information.
- Work with colleagues and customers.
- Maintain personal presentation standards.
The employer is looking for people who:
- are 18 years or older – women and First Nations candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
- are an Australian citizen or permanent resident and have a checkable background
- are willing to undertake shift work over a 7-day roster
- are willing to learn, follow policies and procedures, and work in hospitality
- can work in a team

- have basic personal hygiene and good personal presentation.
Prerequisites required:
- Candidates must have basic Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) skills to perform the roles effectively.
- Candidates must have basic digital skills to use iPads to complete service checks (spot checks), log in to roster and attendance systems, and use POS systems.
- Candidates must be physically fit, as the roles are physically demanding.
- Candidates must complete a national police check and drug and alcohol test and provide these results with their expression of interest.
- Candidates must have a car and licence, or to live within walking/riding distance of either base, as there is no reliable public transport access to the bases.
- Candidates must obtain a Defence Common Access Card (DCAC) – this application will be completed during the screening and selection for this project.
- Candidates who are Australian Citizens must also obtain an Australian Government Baseline Security Clearance upon commencement of employment.
