The VET Student Loans (VSL) program assists eligible students pay tuition fees for approved higher-level (diploma and above) vocational education and training (VET) courses, when studying at VET Student Loans approved course providers. The program is designed to provide financial support to students undertaking higher level training in courses that address workplace and industry needs, creating better opportunities for employment.
Students
A VET Student Loan is an income contingent loan from the Australian Government that helps eligible VET students pay their tuition fees.
VET Student Loans are available for certain diploma level and above qualifications.
VET Student Loans are only available through Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that have met rigorous approval criteria and continue to meet ongoing reporting requirements.

Providers
If you meet course provider requirements, you may apply to be approved as a VET Student Loans provider. The criteria you must meet includes financial viability, fit and proper person tests, student completion rates, and links to industry and employment.
The department will accept applications from providers to become an approved VSL provider at any time.
