Find out about the PALM scheme
The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme allows eligible Australian businesses to hire workers from 9 Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste when there are not enough local workers available.
The PALM scheme is managed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Workforce Australia Local Jobs focuses on reskilling and upskilling individuals to meet local employer demand.
All 51 Employment Regions have:
- a Job Coordinator
- a Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce
- a Local Jobs Plan
- access to funding through a Local Recovery Fund and the National Priority Fund.
