The Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme streamlines the Australian Government’s labour initiatives, the Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP) and Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS).
The PALM scheme allows eligible Australian businesses to hire workers from 9 Pacific island countries and Timor-Leste when there are not enough local workers available.
The PALM scheme is managed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

The Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) supports individuals in remote Australia. Participants build skills, address barriers to employment and contribute to their communities.

Workforce Australia Local Jobs focuses on reskilling and upskilling individuals to meet local employer demand.
All 51 Employment Regions have:
- a Job Coordinator
- a Local Jobs and Skills Taskforce
- a Local Jobs Plan
- access to funding through a Local Recovery Fund and the National Priority Fund.
