TAFE Technology Fund

The Australian Government is committed to putting TAFE at the centre of the vocational education and training (VET) sector. The government is investing $50 million through the TAFE Technology Fund for TAFEs to upgrade facilities, such as laboratories, workshops and IT services, and ensure TAFE is delivering training to standards expected by students and industry.

The TAFE Technology Fund is being used to fund 24 projects across all states and territories. These projects are being implemented with state and territory governments.

Mobile TAFE

At the 25th Garma Festival on 2 August 2025, the Prime Minister, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, announced that the Australian Government will provide $31 million to deliver Mobile TAFE. Mobile training units will enable VET providers to take skills on the road and train the next generation of workers in outer regional and remote communities. This new funding is expected to deliver up to 12 projects nationally.

The government is working with state and territory governments, who will partner with First Nations organisations to identify projects that will meet local skills needs for outer regional and remote First Nations communities. Funding will be allocated in accordance with program guidelines.

Courses offered through Mobile TAFE will vary across locations to meet local skills needs.

Clean Energy Training Investment Fund

The government has announced a $50 million capital and equipment investment fund for facilities upgrades to expand training capability across a broader set of clean energy skills and training areas. The fund is expected to assist TAFEs and industry based Registered Training Organisations equip themselves to deliver training in the clean energy sector.

The fund will have a focus on at-capacity facilities and regional, rural and remote communities experiencing workforce transitions. The clean energy training investment fund is expected to realise projects from 2025 to 2026.
