The Australian Government is investing $427.4 million over 2024-25 to 2027-28 to establish the Commonwealth Prac Payment (CPP) to support higher education and Vocational Education and Training (VET) students. Commencing 1 July 2025, eligible domestic students will be able to access over $300 per week while undertaking mandatory practicums (prac) placements to help ease cost of living pressures for students.

The revised Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) (the revised Standards) are now available.  The revised Standards will come into full regulatory effect from 1 July 2025. The Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) 2015 will apply until then.

It sets out the Australian and state and territory governments’ national approach to delivering Australia’s skills needs for individuals, industry and community. 

The Australian Government has launched the Fee-Free TAFE campaign to raise awareness of the fee-free courses being rolled out across the nation, in partnership with states and territories, thanks to a $414 million investment by the Commonwealth.

Australians can now take advantage of a range of Fee-Free TAFE courses, providing access to the skills they need for the jobs of the future.
