The Australian Government committed $78 million to establish an Advanced Entry Trades Training (AETT) program to fast track the qualifications of 6,000 trades people to help build more homes across Australia.
The AETT program will help experienced but unqualified workers in residential housing and civil construction to gain nationally recognised vocational education and training (VET) qualifications through recognition of prior learning and gap training.
The program will be delivered by TAFEs and other high quality registered training organisations with a strong track record in recognition of prior learning in residential housing and civil construction VET qualifications.
To establish the program, the Australian Government will provide funding to states and territories through a targeted Federation Funding Agreement.
The Australian Government is consulting with key stakeholders to ensure the program supports quality outcomes and is working with states and territories on implementation.
It is anticipated that state and territory governments will implement the AETT program locally in 2026.
