The National Construction Industry Forum (NCIF) has released its draft Joint Construction Industry Charter (the Charter) for broader industry consultation.
The Charter sets out shared goals and behavioural expectations for all industry participants and provides a framework for industry-led adoption of best practice behaviour, culture and performance.
The Charter is industry-led, not government imposed, and is intended to support industry participants to align their decisions and behaviours with agreed expectations and demonstrate a commitment to acting in good faith.
The Charter could build on any potential Commonwealth standards for the construction industry as an industry-led approach to improving construction sector behaviour beyond the minimum expectations in the construction standards.
NCIF members are leading consultation on the draft Charter. Interested stakeholders may also provide feedback on the draft Charter by emailing NCIFSecretariat@dewr.gov.au by 16 October 2026.
