Critical Industry Pilot Projects for electrical and construction

A skilled and sustainable vocational education and training (VET) workforce is critical to support the growing demand for skills in key sectors of the economy.

On this page:

The Australian Government is investing in pilot projects to support the pipeline of VET educators for electrical and construction as these industries are critical to support growth in the skilled workforce to enable the net zero transformation and address housing and construction needs.

The pilot projects will be facilitated by the Jobs and Skills Councils, Powering Skills Organisation (electrical) and BuildSkills Australia (construction). The JSCs will work in partnership with industry to trial models for the attraction and retention of VET teachers, trainers and assessors in their respective industries. As the JSCs are industry-owned and industry-led organisations, the pilots are being developed to meet industry needs and draw on learnings from the JSC VET Workforce Projects.

The pilots will continue through to 2028, with learnings from these projects able to inform future industry led work.
