From finding stability to finding her calling: Kadisha's Parent Pathways journey

Australian Government – Parent Pathways – Creating a strong foundation and pursuing her goals – Meet Kadisha

As a parent, Kadisha wanted to create a stable and secure future for herself and her child. Through Parent Pathways, she found the support she needed to build confidence and take meaningful steps towards a career helping others.

Starting with stability

When Kadisha moved to Townsville, she wanted to create a better future for herself and her child, but finding secure housing was her greatest priority. After connecting with Parent Pathways, her mentor, Zara, helped her to identify goals and develop a plan focused on stability and future employment.

With Zara's support, Kadisha completed a housing needs assessment and engaged with local services, who helped her secure a safe and permanent home. Having stable housing gave Kadisha the confidence and security to focus on her next goals and look towards her career.

A pathway with purpose

With a stable home in place, Kadisha began exploring study options aligned with her interests and values. Passionate about advocacy and supporting children in care, she was drawn to community services. Together with Zara, she researched training options and identified a Certificate III in Community Services as the perfect fit for her.

Parent Pathways helped Kadisha enrol in the course and create a flexible study schedule that allowed her to balance coursework with parenting and family life. Throughout her studies, Kadisha remained focused on her goals, motivated by her passion for helping others and giving back to her community.

"I am so grateful for the empathy and support I received from the Parent Pathways staff. The mentors truly made me feel safe, secure and heard throughout every interaction. That support helped me build trust in myself and feel empowered to take on my future goals."

Creating lasting change

Kadisha successfully completed her Certificate III; an important milestone bringing her one step closer to the future she’d been working towards.

Today, Kadisha’s exploring further study opportunities, including a Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention, as she works towards building a career supporting children, young people and families.

For her mentor, Zara, Kadisha's journey is a powerful example of what can happen when parents are given the right support and encouragement.

"It is incredibly rewarding to see Kadisha's progress. Watching her turn her goals into a pathway toward a meaningful career is a real testament to her strength and determination to build a better future for her family."
