Construction Project Lifecycle Conceptual Framework
In developing the draft Blueprint for the Future, the Forum used a conceptual framework based on each stage of the construction project lifecycle. Members used the construction project lifecycle framework as a conversation template.
By framing their discussion around the stages of a construction project, members were able to take a holistic approach in identifying and prioritising challenges facing the industry. The framework allowed members to consider and appreciate the interconnectedness of issues, the shifting roles and responsibilities of industry participants, and the ripple effects of decisions made in the early stages of construction work.
Draft Blueprint for the Future
On 16 October 2024, the National Construction Industry Forum (the Forum) unanimously agreed to work together to develop a Building and Construction Industry Blueprint that identifies and prioritises the industry’s key challenges and includes a staged workplan for the Forum to consider appropriate solutions.
The draft Blueprint for the Future sets a path to create lasting and tangible change within the industry. A final version of the Blueprint will be subject to the full agreement and endorsement of the Forum.
Forum members may undertake consultation on the draft Blueprint with their stakeholders to inform their consideration ahead of endorsing a final Blueprint. The department is not currently holding a public consultation process on the draft Blueprint.
The Forum encourages all stakeholders to support the draft Blueprint, and to work together to create a construction industry that serves all Australians.
