Turning knowledge into impact: Srijan’s career leap

Starting a career can be tough, especially when you’re trying to turn your skills into a meaningful job. The Employability Skills Training (EST) program is designed to help eligible participants build confidence, strengthen job readiness, and develop the practical tools employers want. Srijan’s journey shows how EST can open doors to rewarding careers. It gave him the confidence and skills he needed to turn his qualifications into a meaningful career.

Meet Srijan

After starting his career journey in retail, Srijan developed strong communication and teamwork skills through daily interactions with customers and colleagues. While this experience built a solid foundation, his passion lay in helping others. After completing a psychology degree and undertaking an internship, Srijan knew he wanted to work in mental health support but needed help bridging the gap between study and employment.

Confidence through skills and support

Determined to take the next step, Srijan enrolled in the EST program to strengthen his job readiness. The program provided practical tools and personalised support, helping him refine his resume, learn effective job search strategies, and build confidence for interviews.

“I’d like to express my gratitude for all the guidance and encouragement I received during the EST course. The sessions helped me better understand the job market, improve my resume, and build confidence for interviews. The practical insights and tips shared made a real difference in helping me secure this opportunity.”

A new chapter in his career journey

Thanks to his determination and hard work, Srijan took the career leap and turned his job readiness into real-world success. He secured a role at a community services centre, where he can use his skills to support people and make a positive impact. By applying what he learned through EST, Srijan is advancing his professional goals and proving how the right skills and support can open doors to meaningful work.
