Improving skills assessments for migrants – consultation now open

This content was published on Tuesday 19 September 2023. There may be more recent updates available.

We are currently reviewing skills assessment processes for workers seeking to enter Australia under the skilled stream of Australia’s Migration Program.

Skills assessments are required for certain visa subclasses to ensure prospective migrants have qualifications and experience to meet Australian occupational standards.

We are looking for responses to our Discussion Paper Draft Best Practice Principles and Standards for Skilled Migration Assessing Authorities. Your views will help improve skills assessment processes and standards to deliver better outcomes for migrants and Australian employers.

You can find the discussion paper and provide your feedback on our Consultation Hub.

The consultation closes on Monday, 23 October 2023.
