Building Foundational Skills through SEE Workplace-Based Training Projects

As part of the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, Workplace-Based Training Projects offer an opportunity for employers, industry associations and unions to partner with a SEE Provider to create tailored, job-specific training solutions.

Flexibility is at the heart of Workplace-Based Training Projects, with training delivered at times and locations that suit the operational needs of each workplace.

SEE Project in Green Technology Recycling

Green Technology Recycling partnered with TAFE NSW to deliver a bespoke 10-week Workplace-Based Training Project. Designed to meet the unique needs of the business, the project focused on strengthening digital literacy and workplace communication skills among their employees.

Each participant worked with trainers to develop a personalised learning plan with clear, achievable goals. Alongside their individual goals, the team also collaborated on a shared team objective: building confidence in using computer software across various devices.

Through a mix of hands-on experience and guided learning, participants not only met but exceeded their goals. The project also delivered unexpected benefits as learning together strengthened their team connections, improved communication and boosted collaboration in the workplace.

Background

To support eligible Australians to build the foundational skills they need to thrive in today’s workforce, the Australian Government launched the redesigned SEE Program on 1 July 2024.

The SEE Program delivers free language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills training, empowering participants to boost their confidence, increase their employability and open pathways to further education or work. The redesigned SEE Program introduced expanded eligibility to include all Australians aged 15 years and over and who have left school, removing the requirement to be a registered jobseeker.
