Job description

The employers are looking for people who are:

  • female
  • 18 years or older
  • able to work individually and as part of a team
  • able to read and follow instructions
  • reliable and punctual
  • able to understand measurements and basic calculations
  • physically fit (able to stand for long periods, able to bend, able to lift and move materials weighing between 1kg and 15kg).

Duties

CNC Operator: 
This role is ideal for someone starting their career in manufacturing or machining who is eager to learn and grow in a hands-on environment. You’ll be responsible for operating CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. Full training will be provided.

Welder: 
This is a great opportunity for someone starting out in the welding trade, looking to build their skills and gain experience in a workshop environment. You will work under supervision to carry out basic welding and fabrication tasks across a range of projects. Full training and support will be provided.

Material Handler (Forklift and Crane Operator): 
This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in materials management and production support. You will be responsible for safely moving, storing, and organizing steel members and other materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, and other handling equipment. Forklift and crane operation training will be provided once in employment.

Duties

Production Team Member:

  • Participate in casting activities such as furnace preparation, pouring, and cooling
  • Undertake aftercast tasks including gate removal, surface finishing, inspection, and quality checks
  • Follow safety procedures, handle materials correctly, and contribute to housekeeping standards
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment, supporting efficient and safe foundry operations

Apprentice CNC Machinist:

  • Learn to set up and operate CNC machinery to manufacture precision components
  • Support assembly activities and the inspection of finished components
  • Gain hands-on experience in metrology, using measurement tools and equipment to verify accuracy and compliance with specifications
  • Undertake training and formal study requirements of the apprenticeship, combining theory with practical application

As Bomac Engineering is a small company, the job involves doing a little bit of almost everything rather than the same thing over and over. You might be picking stock one day, fabricating trolleys the next, then cutting and packing jobs another. There will be some work installing jobs at other sites around Melbourne.

You will need to come into the job able to undertake the following:

  • ability to listen and follow instructions in English
  • packing aluminium and steel goods
  • pick up/deliver parts to other businesses for various processes
  • occasional offsite work will be required.

You will need to have the capacity to learn the following, with instruction:

  • cutting aluminium
