On 22 September 2025, the National Construction Industry Forum (the Forum) formally endorsed the Blueprint for the Future. The formal endorsement represents the strong commitment and engagement of Forum members to create lasting and tangible change across the building and construction industry. It demonstrates a new way of stakeholders working together to give way to a culture of collaboration and shared interests.
The Blueprint represents tripartite advice to government to address long-term issues. It acknowledges the challenges facing the industry and sets out meaningful actions to build a stronger, safer and more inclusive industry that works for everyone. It is not the finishing line, but the starting point for long-term structural and cultural reform.
The Forum is developing the forward workplan for the Blueprint. The forward workplan will complement efforts already underway across governments and industry.
The forward workplan will set out timeframes and key phases for developing the Forum’s advice to government, focusing on the 9 priority recommendations agreed at the 27 June Forum meeting. This will include commencing work on a Joint Construction Industry Charter (Recommendation 2.1 of the Blueprint) as soon as possible.
The Forum will continue to connect with stakeholders and engage across industry so we can work together to create a construction industry that serves all Australians.
The Forum invites all stakeholders to support the Blueprint and contribute to its implementation.
