Job description

Tasks involved:

  • Assist with preparing construction sites by clearing debris and setting up materials and tools.
  • Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Dig trenches, level ground, and assist with excavation work.
  • Mix, pour, and spread materials.
  • Operate small tools and machinery (e.g., jackhammers, compactors) under supervision.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Erect and dismantle temporary structures like temporary fencing and safety barriers.
  • Perform general clean-up of the site and maintenance of tools.
  • Other site duties as directed by site foreman.
  • Fulfill duties as a worker under the WHS Act 2011.
  • Report to supervisor any project risk, quality, safety and environmental issues.

The employer is looking for people who:

  • have an interest in the civil construction industry
  • have reliable transport options to access various work sites
  • are reliable and punctual, and demonstrate a good work ethic
  • are able to work standard hours from 7:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday
  • can work well in a team, communicate effectively and prioritise safety.

Prerequisites required:

  • Able to pass a medical assessment that includes a drug and alcohol test.
  • Able to pass a baseline hearing test.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the role including:
    • comfortable performing physical and outdoor tasks for 8+ hours
    • regular lifting of objects weighing up to 10 kilograms and irregular lifting of objects weighing 10 – 20 kilograms.
