VET Data Provision Requirements

The Data Provision Requirements (DPRs) are the legal framework that defines rules, requirements and obligations registered training organisations (RTOs) must meet to legally submit vocational education and training (VET) activity data to the NCVER.

On this page:

The DPRs are a legally enforceable instrument under the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator (NVETR) Act 2011 and will be updated as part of the VET Data Streamlining Program, including to make reference to the new VET Information Standard. They will be supported by guidance material and explanatory information that help RTOs understand and meet their obligations.

The DPRs define a range of requirements that drive data reporting, including:

  • what data RTOs need to report
  • how often they need to report
  • the methods they use to report
  • certain exemptions to reporting.

It is expected that the updated DPRs will be released in July 2026.
